Composite & Polymers Expert (Engineer)
Wichita, Kansas
Position is responsible for research and development of new composite
processes and resolution of composite manufacturing production problems.
Technology development will be focused on the advancement of composite
fabrication processes as related to fuselage structures and associated
process tooling. Applicant will be involved in the testing and development
of new composite processes and techniques that support preproduction/
production of future composite structure. Specific assignments may include:
-resin infusion
-resin transfer molding
-cure optimization
-tooling support
-automated lay-up systems
-material/process specification development
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements
BS Degree Relevant/Engineering Materials, Chem.,
Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering required.
A minimum of 7 years of overall applicable experience
Includes: 4 years applicable experience in
composites manufacturing technology, composites manufacturing R&D,
nonmetallic Materials & Process Engineering, and/or composite
product/process development fields,
Experience is preferably in the aerospace industry.
4 years specific knowledge/experience of polymer formulations,
fiber tow placement, filament winding, composite tooling/ associated
processes
Experience supporting implementation of composite manufacturing process
improvements or IR&D/CR&D initiatives.
Applicant should have experience supporting the preparation/ execution
of detailed projects plans
-effectively communicate the status and results of the technology
development.
-Engineering program must be ABET accredited.
-Specialized knowledge of advanced composite fabrication
processes. Knowledge of CATIA/composite analysis/process
simulation tools is beneficial
-Some travel may be required to fulfill job requirements.
-Able to coordinate/collaborate with international partners to
transfer/enable
emerging fabrication technologies
