Description: Principal Mechanical Engineer
Louisiana
Lead for mechanical design, piping design, plant layout, equipment
specification, project
engineering, and specifications, and transportation vessel design.
Provide Mechanical Design functional leadership throughout the company,
leading the development of plot plans and equipment arrangements, and
participating in
the development of P&ID.
Development of front-end packages for outsourced projects.
Oversees ongoing mechanical design work for accuracy, adherence to scope,
workability,
economy and compliance with standards and specifications
Responsible for Corporate Standards and Specifications.
Provide internal mechanical design consulting to facilities and develop
equipment specifications.
Monitor and review contractor design activities and implement necessary
corrective actions,
and maintain engineering standards, specifications and piping
specifications.
Prepares, or reviews and approves the preparation of, purchase requisitions
for specialty
mechanical equipment. Reviews and approves mechanical design and equipment
specifications.
Work with Project Managers to develop project execution plans.
Evaluate new equipment and supplies piping, valves, etc.
Qualifications: Degree Mechanical Engineering.
12+ years Mechanical Engineering experience in the Chemical, Petrochemical,
Process Industry
9+ years experience in Piping Design and Plant Layout.
Multi-disciplined design experience.
Design and Evaluation experience with piping systems and ASME B31.3 Code
Ability to supervise multi-disciplined design Teams
Working knowledge of critical path schedules.
Knowledge of development of Material Take-offs.
Understanding of engineering design tools specifically related to mechanical
engineering and piping design - pipe stress, finite element analysis,
AutoCAD, 3D Cadd, etc.
Knowledge of OSHA/NFPA Plant layout requirements.
Experience with SAP Project Module and other basic SAP transactions
desirable.
Professional Engineering registration a plus
