Sr Process Chemist
Illinois
Position Description:Performs full range of process development work
including assignments requiring expertise in characterizing chemistry and
morphology of intermediates for the manufacture of Uranium Hexafluoride;
optimizing gas-solid reactions in reduction, hydrofluorination, fluorination
chemistry. Position works in and around a manufacturing environment for
an aerospace products and services company, located in Southern Illonois.
Basic Responsibilities:
Person will work with team of chemists and engineers to improve
manufacturing process chemistry to eliminate / reduce waste; must be able to
work in a team environment and capable to lead a project that requires
coordination of different functions of R&D, including physical property
measurement, analytical and pilot plant / work with engineers in
Manufacturing
and Engineering in cost reduction initiatives and improving technology
for manufacturing. He/She is expected to be able to develop process
technologies as well as patent portfolio to protect the same. The successful
candidate will have a strong initiative in developing state-of-art process
technology and patent the same. This individual should be capable to plan
and execute experimentations independently and also capable to develop
practical solutions for manufacturing issues related to Chemistry.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry
Post Doctoral or Industrial experience a plus but not mandatory.
Hands-on inorganic wet chemistry experience a must.
10 or more years of Experience & Skills:
-Actinide chemistry / Inorganic fluoride chemistry /
surface chemistry a plus.
-An in-depth knowledge of inorganic chemistry, gas-solid reactions and
chemical kinetics are required.
-Fundamental knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical chemistry is
required.
-Basic understanding of transport phenomena and unit operations in
manufacturing environment , is a plus.
-Excellent oral and written communications skills, are required.
-10% travel, required
Additional Qualifications:
Location: Position will initially be based in Southern, IL with
relocation to Springfield, IL in the future. Relocation assistance
is available for both locations.
