Description: Sr Materials & Corrosion Engineer
Louisiana
Provide materials of construction technical support to chemical
manufacturing and R&D Facilities.
Materials compatibility and evaluation projects, in addition to materials of
construction support to capital projects, and for corporate specifications
and standards.
Failure Analysis; predictive and preventative materials selection and
technical support.
Hands on failure analysis, covering the entire spectrum of engineering
materials, from
carbon steel, polyethylene, and natural rubber all the way to tantalum,
PTFE, and the
perfluoroelastomers.
Devise, set-up, and execute laboratory testing (in a dedicated and
fullyequipped
laboratory), as well as in-situ testing, and maintain ability to conduct
tests.
Maintain and evolve corrosion and material compatibility knowledge base,
including
development and delivery of fundamental corrosion training programs.
Qualifications:
Degree, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering, or a
related field
9+ years experience in the Chemical Process Industry or similar industry.
Understands the multi-disciplinary aspects of corrosion & materials
selection.
Basic familiarity with chemistry and chemical engineering principles and
analytical techniques.
Basic knowledge of laboratory practices and a strong motivation to be safe
in a lab environment.
Familiarity and experience with most engineering materials (metals &
non-metals)
Experience with most common NDE and NDT technologies and applications
Root Cause Failure Analysis training and/or experience
Rotating equipment and mechanical seals experience
Familiarity with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel (Section VIII) and Piping
Codes (B31.3)
Dersirable: Member of NACE and/or ASM
