Description: Senior Piping Engineer
Shanghai, China
As a Senior Piping Engineer, plan and coordinate all activities related
to piping engineering. As part of the overall Project Engineering Team for the
Senior Piping Engineer supports the Piping Lead Engineer in charge of the overall EPCM,
piping design and procurement work.
The scope of work for this position ranges from basic and detailed
engineering phase, goes on to construction / mechanical installation in the
field and supports the start-up team during mechanical completion /
pre-commissioning and commissioning.
Supervise the EPCM contractor, resolve contractor questions and problems,
determine corrective actions and coordinate piping engineering with other
engineering disciplines such as process, instrumentation and civil etc.
Check and approve specifications and drawings for standard and special piping
components and carry out expediting, progress control and quality
inspections at manufacturer's workshops.
On behalf of the lead engineer piping, the Senior Piping Engineer in this
case has the authority to decide on all piping engineering issues. This
includes the responsibility for achieving the project targets in regard to
quality, material and installation costs, engineering man-hours and
schedule.
Qualifications: Degree in chemical engineering, process technology or mechanical engineering.
At least 7+ years of professional experience as piping engineer
in plant engineering and construction for chemical processes
Sound knowledge of and experience with piping engineering for chemical
plants including good knowledge in the related fields like electrical,
instrumentation, civil and structural.
Fluent in English, verbally and in writing.
In-depth understanding of piping engineering and piping construction for
chemical plants and chemical operations.
Knowledge in routing and supporting of piping systems in regard to thermal
expansion and understanding of stress and flexibility analyses,
Knowledge of international and Chinese codes and standards in terms of
piping and equipment, experience in project engineering, preparation of inquiry documents and
commercial/technical bid evaluations,
- a good understanding of the interdependencies between technical aspects,
scheduling and financial matters,
- Basic knowledge in operating and maintaining chemical production facilities and utilities,
