Description: Sr Principal Contracts Manager / Advisor EPC projects
Pittsburgh, PA
Assist the Commercial Director by providing subject-matter expertise to the
project team
Support the Commercial Director in formulating, implementing and
maintaining highly complex project plans/procedures to satisfy contractual
requirements and achieve company financial objectives.
Review contracts addendums and amendments to identify contract
compliance items and incorporate into a compliance matrix and workflow
system.
Support the processing of variation orders/change orders by
collecting information such as needs and organizational impact, estimating
costs, drafting the order, Limit of Authority reviews and communicating the
change.
Ensure proper tracking and completion of contract
deliverables and commercial items such as liquidated damages and payment
milestones.
Assist with contract compliance maintenance and execution by
imputing actions, monitoring status, storing documents and generating
reports from workflow systems such as WORKM and EDMS
Lead development and implementation of commercial policy in support of
global business objectives. Analyze complex business opportunities and
prepare innovative and market responsive contractual terms and lead
commercial negotiations for complex initiatives. Provide continuous
improvement of policies and processes to enhance customer satisfaction,
competitive position and financial performance.
Analyze complex customer requirements to assess commercial risks
(price, overall strategy, investment schedules/plans, and terms), and
develop commercial measures and strategies that appropriately balance
business risks and rewards for complex domestic or international business
initiatives.
Provide screening and risk analysis of potential candidates for
teaming arrangements, technology licensing, and equity investment.
Direct and lead commercial negotiations for complex
multi-organizational business initiatives, including multiple party teaming
agreements, licensing agreements, and settlement agreements.
Develop, recommend and obtain senior management approval for
contractual deviations form established Limits of Authority.
Maintain a high degree of expertise in commercial and global business
practices. Train less experienced Contracts Group personnel and develop and
train personnel in the area of sales/purchasing contracts,
teaming agreements, and license/distribution agreement development and
administration.
Direct commercial and technical personnel in all
commercially-related activities in which they may be engaged, to ensure that
commercial policies are appropriately established and consistently
implemented.
Provide contract analysis services for subsidiary companies when
necessary.
Identify, analyze, and drive process improvement initiatives. Maintain
a high level of expertise in process improvement techniques.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Direct resolution of situations which involve very complex (large
dollar value, multi-faceted, large scope, design, supply, execution and/or
operation and maintenance contracts) commercial business issues, involving
both internal and external interfaces while concurrently managing many
tasks.
Create new and innovative commercial structures to profitably maintain
market competitiveness.
Investigate issues, gather relevant data, interpret data, develop
solutions. Resolve major financial, commercial and legal issues involved in
commercial disputes between the customer and/or teaming partner and
company.
Effectively lead commercial negotiations utilizing ability to explain
to and persuade internal/external personnel, including personnel from law,
intellectual property, tax, treasury, insurance, marketing, etc. departments
(both internal and external to customers) regarding commercial and
contractual issues.
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in business-related, legal or technical discipline.
Minimum 12+ years experience in contract management of large,
complex EPC projects.
Customer 1st Certification desired
MBA or JD degree is preferred
Training in financial skills associated with Project Management.
