Construction Assessment Represenative (biologist)

Central  California


Part of the Assessment, Remediation and Geo-Sciences Division "biology
group" which consists of approximately 11 biologists with 15 to 20 years of
experience.working on oil & gas projects with sensitive biological resources
within the central California area. The main component of this position will
involve overseeing construction work and ensuring biological mitigation
measures and permit conditions are implemented.  The position will provide
biological and permit condition requirement support to the Assessment,
Remediation and Geo-Sciences and Environmental Divisions by assessing
biological resources, identifying regulatory constraints, and defining work
limits; additionally, biological assessments
and reporting for other  projects may be required.

Day-to-day tasks may vary greatly on a project basis. Tasks are likely to
include: daily pre-construction clearance, construction monitoring,
relocation of wildlife, flagging biologically sensitive areas, monitoring
permit compliance, taking detailed notes, surveying for wildlife and/or
plant species, assisting with wetland delineations, habitat assessments,
and/or sensitive species surveys. Communicating clearly both verbally and in
writing with supervisor, construction crews, clients, and/or agency
representatives will be a common activity.

This position reports to the Assessment, Remediation and Geo-Sciences
Division /  Biologists will work closely with numerous Company Project
Managers in both the Environmental and Remediation Groups. Work with other
Company Offices is likely,  to support large seasonal efforts/ Able to build
a strong relationship with construction crew and agency representatives



Qualifications: Skills/Experience/Education


Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field. A minimum of 2 years
experience in wildlife and/or botany  or applicable course work with a field
component. Minimum 5 yrs overall Biology Work Experience. Valid California
drivers license. Within 6 months of hire date, applicant must successfully
pass the 40-hour HAZWOPER, First Aid, CPR, and LPS training. Position
requires the ability to take detailed and legible notes. Basic Windows-based
computer skills and typing proficiency; skilled in the
operation of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Oversight  ( not the management of) and guidance of construction crews is a
critical component of this position.
Position requires effective verbal and written communication skills; ability
to work early mornings and potentially long days under harsh conditions (hot
or cold conditions).

Review plans for environmental constraints, communicate with construction
crew, and enforce mitigation
measures and permit conditions.
