Director of Ecological Services
Massachusetts

The Director of Ecological Services will provide technical leadership in
the wetlands and ecological services bureau, along with
general team leadership responsibility for directing and managing all staff.
He/she will oversee project development, quality management of work
processes and products, client-agency interactions and the strategic
development of business opportunities and client relationships. The Director
of Ecological Services will often interface with clients, assess their
technical needs and ensure the timeliness and quality of project
deliverables.







Qualifications: BS or MS degree (Master's preferred) (degree relevant: biology,
ecology, natural resources, or closely related environmental science).
Position also requires 17 years of progressively responsible professional
experience providing wetlands and ecological technical services with a
minimum of 7 years of successful managerial/supervisory experience for both
project and people management, to include direct experience in private
sector environmental consulting. The individual hired should possess
certification/licensure in wetlands, soil science or wildlife biology.
Massachusetts professional certification preferred or
licensure/certification from another state with the ability to obtain MA
certification. Having CT certification would be a definite plus, as would
being a New Hampshire certified Wetland Scientist.

A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biological science with
extensive technical experience including: wetland delineation methodology;
regulatory/multi-agency permitting; wetlands replication and restoration
design planning; wetland functional assessments; rare species surveys;
wildlife habitat evaluations; plant identification and vegetation cover type
mapping; regulatory negotiation; federal, state, and local wetland/wildlife
regulations and permit procedures; contractor oversight and peer reviews.
