Description
Director of Environmental Health & Safety (E H & S) has direct
accountability for leading all aspects of company Environmental,
Health & Safety risk management programs and compliance
assurance activities, and is the most senior EH&S position at
the Company/ this position is responsible for key aspects of the
Corporate Sustainability program / accountable for developing,
monitoring, auditing and implementing a company-wide risk-based
EHS management system / He/she will work with officers
and managers to establish and help implement EH&S
initiatives and compliance /Provide the appropriate
management processes to ensure that the organization
consistently complies with the Corporate EHS Policy /
utilizes best industry practices to manage risks to people/
property and the environment / manage current risks
and identify future compliance challenges / develop
a central training program for company employees on
compliance with EH&S laws, regulations, standards
and policies / Development of internal standards,
procedures and practices dealing with health, safety
and the environment based on compliance with all applicable
laws and regulations, the best available scientific evidence and judgment,
the best practices for the industry / a functional expert/mentor/support
for EHS professionals across the company on matters related to
worker protection and wellness/ in-depth knowledge of the company's
technologies, products, manufacturing processes, business
environment, and EHS risk profiles for the various functional
organizations, establish in collaboration with internal customer groups
and EHS staff a strategy for management of EHS compliance
and risks. Update the strategy as the need arises / establish
long term and short term goals/ Oversee the activities (projects,
programs and initiatives) necessary to achieve the goals and
drive to deliver results. Communicate progress on meeting goals.
Compliance with all Fed/State & Local EH&S laws, regulations and standards
Ensure that budget forecasts are accurate and that the overall budget is
met. Effectively manage resources and budget in line with GNE standards,
policies and practices.
Qualifications: Education /Experience/Skills
BS in a relevant scientific or engineering field is required and an
advanced degree preferred. A minimum of 12 years experience in
Environmental Health and Safety and 17 years overall business and
management experience required
* In addition, the applicant should have 7 years of Managerial experience
at a comparable level and hold industry recognized professional
certifications in a core technical specialty in the EHS field.
