Sr Geologist Planning Division
Brisbane, Australia
Position is a motivated and experienced Geologist who will fill the open
position currently located within the Geological Services team in Planning
and Development, Brisbane, Australia.
The team of professional geologists and engineering support staff operates
as
an internal consultant providing centralised coal mining exploration
services/geological
support to customers at operating mines, development / grassroots
exploration
projects in the area.
Basic Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have major responsibilities including:
• Commitment and process owner for a long term exploration mining plan
(approximately 5 Years) and an exploration budget.
• Development of exploration planning/strategies/ periodic reviews of
projects in
the growth pipeline to ensure alignment with the company's strategy
• Compliance with company's standard operation procedures & policies.
• Coordinating geological input to and participating in resource development
potential and range analysis.
• Geological input to identification (concept) level feasibility studies
• Jointly responsible (with Superintendent ) for exploration
target generation studies and target selection.
Qualifications: Basic Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's Geoscience, MBA is an advantage
• Minimum 12 years experience in:
•Open-cut and underground mining, feasibility study and exploration roles.
• Coal industry exposure preferable.
• Specific experience in exploration methods and programme management,
mining and environmental law, data management and analysis, especially
geostatistical methods, resource modelling and evaluation skills, good
general knowledge of open-cut and underground mining methods,
geotechnics,
beneficiation, marketing and economics.
• Strategic thinker and planner/ excellent leadership skills/ project
management skills
contract management experience/ budgeting, cost control and analytical
skills.
• Active membership of a professional association
