Sr. Process Application Developer
Nanticoke, Ontario, CA
Position Summary:
The position joins a integrated steel producer with major production
operations in North America, Europe & Canada. This is a financially stable
U.S. company, contributing to the gloal marketplace in diversified sectors
such as operations of at least 4 iron ore mines, railroad, container/shipping and
barge transportation services, 7 steel fabrication plants (products ie:
machinery, construction materials , appliances) several oil and gas
operations/industries, as well as holdings in commercial/industrial real estate &
land development.
This position will be responsible for issues related to product
quality, production performance, design technical solutions and contribute to the software
development process standards and that enhance the infrastructure that runs the
business.
The successful Sr. Process Application Developer will be eager to join a

Application
Developer for this steel company , you will be responsible to help
troubleshoot issues
related to product quality and production performance, design technical
solutions and
contribute to the software development process standards that enhance the
infrastructure
that runs this business.
General Responsibilities:
o Software development in C++, C, and Fortran
o Design, develop, troubleshoot and maintain critical process control system
servers, HMIs, relational databases, and Web servers
o Learn and understand the steel hot rolling process and apply appropriate
technology solutions to maximize operating efficiencies
o Analyze manufacturing process improvement requests and design technical
solutions based on requirements
o Implement continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality
production capabilities
o Detail design of system specification, including hardware and software
requirements
o Design, develop, test, verify and document applications for the production
environment
o Support critical production systems to maximize operating efficiencies
with minimal interruption
o Coordinate the design and development of process improvements utilizing
project management skills
o Off-hours response to high-priority issues expected
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
o Bachelors / 4-Year University Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or
Chemical Engineering
o 6+ Years Experience with programming in high-level languages; exposure to
C and/or FORTRAN
o Familiarity with object-oriented programming and ability to learn new
programming languages
o Working knowledge of SQL, including experience with one of the following:
MS Access, Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL
o Detailed knowledge of communication network protocols, including TCP/IP
and UDP
o Experience with the configuration of MS Windows Operating Systems
The following skills are preferred, but not required for this opportunity:
o Experience with G/E Cimplicity or other SCADA packages
o Experience with OpenVMS, Linux, QNX operating systems
o Knowledge of Java, VB
o (DBA) Database Administration
o Travel 15%, required
