Basic Description
The position will be responsible to develop and implement methods
and procedures in geologic operations. The incumbent will ensure
validity and reliability of geologic data and geologic operation method,
as well as update the Geologic Operations staff to increase their
knowledge and develop skill and competencies.
Basic responsibilities:
-Develop and maintain technical manuals for geologic data collection,
recording, reporting - area specific- and provide clear direction and
training to the geologic services group in these procedures to secure
reliable data collection.
-Monitor field procedures and collect information on problems
encountered in the field and use the results for interpretation and ideas on
improvement.
-Conduct regular field inspections to ensure procedures are being
followed and to identify/correct procedural problems.
-Keep up to date with industry standard practice of geologic quality
through study of techniques to ensure that best practice is available.
-Understand and be aware of safety and environmental practices in the
work area ensuring safe work practices for you and working colleagues and
compliance with company Safety and Environmental SOPs.
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
-Bachelor's in Geology or related area
or
- Master's or PHD (Preferred)
-17 years experience in the mineral geology industry, mining, and/or
exploration.
-Considered a master of geologic principles.
-Strong background experience in practical application of data collection
recording, compilation, interpretation, and reporting techniques.
-Proficient knowledge and experience in managing computerized databases.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills.
-Proven ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards
and safety precautions.
