Minimum Education, Qualifications & Requirements:
-Must have at least 5 years (or more) of experience in the field of chemistry
-Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in chemistry or biochemistry
-Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid California State Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Knowledge of the terminology and standard abbreviations used in a chemical laboratory.
-Knowledge of the types and uses of equipment used in a chemical laboratory such as a spectrophotometers, refractometer, microscope, colorimeter, etc.
-Knowledge of general laboratory techniques and methods including sample collection.
-Knowledge of the principles and practices of general chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry.
-Knowledge of chemistry research methods and procedures.
-Knowledge of the techniques for the handling and transportation of samples and specimens used in a laboratory.
-Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of chemical test data, to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
-Ability to assemble items of information according to established procedures.
-Ability to read and interpret such documents as test results and technical manuals.
-Ability to make effective oral presentations.
Qualifications Acquired on Job:
The operation of several specific analytical instruments (IR, MS, UV). Ability to testify as an expert witness in courts of law.
