Description: Lead Estimator
Houston, Texas
Lead a team of estimators performing capital cost estimating.
Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the
resolution of difficult and complex estimating problems.
Assist project management with preparation of schedules for estimate
preparation and review.
Prepare material takeoffs on the most complex projects, drawings, and
plans. Review takeoffs provided by the Engineering Department and check for
mathematical and technical accuracy. Prepare detailed breakdown of
components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
Review contractual documents and contract modifications to determine
scope of work and scope changes.
Prepare and summarize task and subtask estimates, including rate and unit
cost determination and performing mathematical calculations by applying
standard factors.
Appraises overall accuracy of estimates and recommends contingency for
estimates such as Lump Sum Bids, Defined Estimates and Interim Control
Estimates.
Accumulate, evaluate, and document historical cost data and construction
procedures and methods in order to maintain current estimating standards and
databases.
Qualifications: Degree in construction management, engineering or relevant.
Minimum 9+ years experience. Knowledge of standard scheduling and estimating
software.
