Description: Sr Control Systems Engineer
California, Concord
Provide technical support for the DCS control systems,
control applications, central control operations & process control systems
performance at the Refinery. The candidate will have a
functional working knowledge of control systems applications and hardware in
the refining industry. Knowledge of process safety shutdown systems and
logic control systems is required. Control systems include Distributed
Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrument Systems (SIS) and Alarm Management
Tools in the Process Control Environment. Responsibilities shall include
the development of latter logic programs, DCS to PLC systems assets.
Knowledge of the Foxboro IA DCS, ISA SP84 standards & Safety shutdown system
testing is an advantage. Experience with Allen Bradley PLC's, ladder logic
programming and DH+, Modbus & ControlNet networking is an advantage.
Key Job Responsibilities:
a.. Provides technical support for the DCS control systems, control
applications, central control operations and process control systems
performance.
b.. Responsible for providing technical support & problem resolution for
the existing PLC systems in the refinery.
c.. Design & specify new PLC applications & prepare functional
specifications for these systems.
d.. Develop PLC programs for refinery applications including standalone
applications, vendor supplied systems and safety shutdown systems.
e.. Develop PLC documentation standards & prepare documentation of all PLC
based applications in the refinery.
f.. Provide expertise in the design of Safety Instrumented Systems and the
application of the ISA SP84 Safety Instrumented Systems standard in the
refinery.
Qualifications
Qualifications: B.S. degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering or a related technical
field is required. 7+ years instrumentation and process control
experience. Allen Bradley PLC systems is required.
Additional Requirements Include:
a.. Ability to work with a plant team of multiple disciplines on scoping,
justification, planning & implementation of instrumentation and process
control system projects.
b.. Good background on base level refinery control and instrumentation
(Pneumatic, electronic, DCS, PLC, etc.).
c.. Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC's safety shutdown systems, DCS systems
and PLC interfaces is required.
d.. Experience with PLC system networking, administration, testing and
maintenance are an advantage.
e.. The ability to scope control projects and participate in all aspects
of the project design and execution is required.
