Description: Senior Civil Hydroelectric Engineer
Carries out analyses and design of structures associated with hydroelectric
projects, such as concrete dams, intakes, powerhouses,
spillways and foundations. Directs drafters/ technologists in
production of drawings and also prepares specifications.
Work involves all stages of projects, from feasibility to final detailed
design, and includes new projects and rehabilitation and upgrade of existing
facilities.
Works with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technologists to
execute projects within budget and on schedule.
Qualifications: University graduate with degree in civil engineering. Advanced degree is an
advantage.
Proficiency in use of computer analysis of structures, as well as general
spreadsheet applications.
10+ years experience as follows:
Conceptual and Feasibility Studies of hydroelectric projects.
Layout of hydroelectric facilities.
Stability Analysis of Dams and other components of hydroelectric projects.
Detailed analysis and structural design of dams, intakes, powerhouses,
spillways, etc. Familiarity with North American Codes is an advantage.
Rehabilitation and dam safety work.
Roller compacted dam (RCC) experience is an asset.
Some construction supervision experience is an asset.
