Wind Farm Design Manager
Florida
Wind Farm Design/GIS is responsible for management of strategic
development and production processes driving wind energy site
assessment, met tower placement, and wind turbine layout activities.
Lead site assessments and the collection of site specific or in site GIS
and wind flow data. Collaborate with Wind Analysts to improve methods and
processes supporting wind resource grids, wake analysis, turbine layout
optimization, system control strategies, mechanical load analysis, energy
production estimates, project approval, and finance.
Manage cross-functional interfaces with staff from Development, Land Management,
Environmental, Engineering & Construction, Transmission, and Operations
groups to ensure practical and accurate siting of met towers, wind turbines,
and associated balance of plant facilities.
Provide a broad range of services to internal customers, coordinating production schedules and
ensuring quality control throughout the wind energy development life-cycle.
Oversee strategic team initiatives above and beyond daily production
processes, including new product and service development, process control,
and systems development.
Ensure ongoing development of expert staff
competencies, consistent with peer groups dedicated to development and asset
management support.
Qualifications: Degree, Master or PHD in Engineering,
Operations Research, Meteorology, or other quantitative field.
10 years professional experience with 4+ years industry experience in
wind analysis, wind farm design, wind project engineering and construction
Proficiency or certification in standard industry applications including
Wasp, WindPro, and WindFarmer. Experience with advanced tools supporting
large eddy simulations or detailed flow modeling preferred. A demonstrated
track record involving GIS, including proficiency with standard GIS
applications, data layers, and programming languages. Experience with ESRI
Arc Desktop products preferred. Practical project management experience
involving process improvement, capital control and energy project
development
