Senior Reliability Manager

(telecommunications products)



Description
The Senior Reliability Manager for telecommunications products,
based in the CA, facility, will be responsible for all aspects of
product quality and reliability for Company's telecommunications products.

Primary functions will include:
Leadership of product qualification efforts according to the requirements
of Telcordia , including stress testing, predictive reliability testing, and
Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) calculations.  This leadership role is
expected to include establishment of Company guidelines and requirements
related to qualification and reliability test plans, implementation of
design-for-reliability  techniques in product development, and
on-going reliability testing. Enforcement of product quality standards
and implementation of Company's Quality Management System (QMS).
Customer communication and customer  support related to quality and
reliability aspects of Company's telecommunication products.
Implementation of a post-sales support program that will work with customer
service to perform failure analysis, debug, and repair planning related to
customer returns for telecommunications products. On-site management
of a quality and reliability engineering team that will perform
qualification
testing, reliability testing, and failure analysis of products and
supporting
components. This team will be a resource both for telecommunications
products and enterprise products that are offered by the Company.
Support for vendor quality enforcement activities as they relate to the
overall quality and reliability of the telecommunications products. This
will particularly relate to management of the quality and reliability issues
associated with contract manufacturers, in addition to key component or
sub-assembly suppliers. In addition to issue resolution, these activities
are expected to include proactive and preventative measures such as
supplier auditing, enforcement of supplier change control, and
management of supplier qualification testing. Participation in and
leadership for teams that are formed to deal with issues related to
product engineering and operations

This is a senior-level position that requires:

-Strong technical skills that can be applied to quality and reliability
efforts/ technical years of expereince 10 (minimum)

-Skillful customer communication

-Strong management and leadership skills, minimum of 8 yrs

-The position will report to the Director of Quality and Reliability for the
Company

Strong technical background in optoelectronic or similar electronic
products. Direct experience with engineering and /or reliability testing for
telecommunication products is desired. BS/BA degree required.
An advanced degree in a related technical field is highly desired.
Direct knowledge of product qualification techniques and the ability to
assess methods of acceptable and economical implementation for product
qualification requirements Ability to assess and implement predictive
calculations for product reliability Ability to collect and distill data
and to us that data to make risk assessments and authoritative
decisions related to product quality and
reliability Ability to lead and manage a mixed group of technical test
and engineering personnel
