Principal Optical Design Engineer
Fremont, CA
The designer position will join an engineering team to lead in product
development.
Basic Job Responsibilities:
Design and develop multi channel parallel fiber optic transceiver modules
for active cables and other optical interconnect products. Major functions
include RF circuit design, PCB and PCBA design, optical interconnect and
link design, and subsystem design. Closely engage with internal IC
development team from product definition, to design review, and
product validation. Lead product development from concept to NPI
to HVM. Closely work with contract manufacturer in Asia to ensure production
ramp. Lead and collaborate with a team of mechanical, electrical,
optical, process and production engineers, acting as the main technical
liaison between teams with the capacity of making design decisions
per customer requirements. Evaluate vendor solutions, capture customer
requirements, and communicate with customers on all aspects of product
development.
Qualifications: Minimum Experiences and Qualifications:
-MS degree (PhD is preferred) or equivalent education
-12 years of relevant experience :
-Demonstrated ability to be Lead Engineer for projects through various
stages of Product Development
-Strong skills in developing Fiber Optic modules for Infiniband, Ethernet,
or fiber channel application.
-Experience with 10G transceiver design a strong plus
-Strong experience in designing electrical circuits, including understanding
of circuit theory, linear system theory, feedback systems, with background
in circuits such as switching power supplies
-Background in ESD, EMI, RFI, NEBS and product safety design, qualification
and test.
-Familiarity with Product Development methodology from concept, through
design, to manufacturing is required
-Experience and familiarity with vendor base for Optical Products is desired
-Highly self-motivated with a strong multi-disciplinary background
-Familiar with I/O interconnect for high performance computing applications.
-Travel up to 35%
