Description for Assistant Architect
The successful candidate will be a smart, creative and entrepreneurial leader to lead a systems operations team. The technical team is collaborative, supportive, relaxed and motivated. We believe in clean, elegant, innovative technical architecture and we are looking for a technologist who shares the same ideals and passion for technology, open source and knowledge as the company. He/She will be a strong leader who will foster an innovative, creative and collaborative team while at the same time, will help steer the technical future of the company. This individual wiil bridge a development team with the company's systems team with the primary focus of making sure the production environment is stable, fast and resilient. The ideal candidate will have a background in a web startup and feels equally comfortable diving into writing code as well as hands on systems administration work.

Responsibilities include:

* Manage a team to plan, design and build a highly scalable and robust technical web infrastructure
* Manage the production environment; ensuring it is online and running quickly and smoothly
* Work with Tech leadership team to help drive our technical roadmap and future strategy
* Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to a team of engineers/systems administrators
* Manage the growth of the department, including hiring and organizing for maximum effectiveness of your team
* Own the software and hardware infrastructure; be prepared to suggest and sell improvements and own getting them done
* Manage our MySQL infrastructure planning for DR and performance as well as scalability
