Import Coordinator

Purpose of the Import Coordinator  : 

 

The Import Coordinator position is responsible for ensuring that all documentation for inbound shipments are received in a timely manner

and perform a comprehensive commercial documentation review to ensure that Buying Agent and Vendor documentation are compliant with US Customs and Border Protection regulations.


Basic Import Coordinator Responsibilities:

. Update Foreign Trade Zone Inbound Tracking database and run reports used to ensure that all documentation for Zone inbound shipments   are received in a timely manner.
. Work with overseas freight forwarders and steamship lines to obtain missing documentation prior to shipment arrival in the U.S.
. Detailed and comprehensive review of Buying Agent and Vendor documentation to ensure compliance with all CBP Regulations.
.Work with overseas Liaison offices and Buying Agent office to resolve any documentation discrepancies and obtain corrected documentation when necessary.
. Reprint Buying Agent Invoice, Vendor Invoice, Packing List and Interim Product Invoice when necessary.
. Track documentation discrepancies and provide the local Customs Compliance Team with required eClaim information.
. Perform file maintenance and record keeping requirements.

The Import Coordinator has direct relationships with the following:

Internal Foreign Trade Zone personnel, Liaison offices, Buying Agent office, other subsidiary companies and local Customs Compliance Department. In addition he/she has relationships with external Air and ocean freight forwarders, Customs Broker and Steamship
Lines.

. Familiar with Imports, US Customs and Border Protection Regulations, US Customs Brokerage and the Foreign Trade Zone Program.
. Ability to read and interpret government regulations.
. Self motivated, engaged and positive team player, able to manage and give direction to subordinates
. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet daily deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
. Work well under pressure
. Exceptional attention to detail
. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
. Strong data entry skills with an emphasis on speed and a high degree of accuracy
. PC Literate with strong Excel and Access skills

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

. Bachelors Degree Transportation, Logistics or relevant
. 8+ years experience in Customs Brokerage, Imports, Foreign Trade Zone, Inventory Control or related work experience.
. Must submit fingerprint cards and pass US Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement background checks.
. 5+ years experience in a senior management shipping/trade/logistics role, required
