Senior Transmission Planning Manager
Omaha, NE
Position Description:
Develop the knowledge and experience base of junior engineers.
Assist in evaluating the need for additional training or developmental opportunities for departmental staff.
Insure the functionality of departmental staff in the event of loss of another staff member.
Produce a long-range transmission expansion plan that aligns with plans for distribution and integrated resource facilities additions to ensure an adequate, economic, and reliable supply of power.
Conduct transmission operational studies.
Prepare operating guides for constrained transmission facilities.
Define constrained transmission interfaces.
Ensure compliance with NERC and MRO / MAPP Planning and Operating Standards.
Thorough knowledge of the analytical tools and methods used in power system analysis; serve as a resource/consultant to other District departments particularly in the areas of computer simulation and system operating assessment for both steady-state and transient conditions.
Ensure that computer models and study data, which are employed in transmission system analytical simulations, are complete and accurate.
Coordinate transmission system plans with interconnected neighboring utilities and regional entities to provide for integrated, reliable regional plans in a systematic manner.
Follow-up planning recommendations through facility engineering and construction to ensure operation and performance as planned.
Participate in local, subregional and regional transmission committees to remain abreast of all factors contributing to effective transmission system planning and to allow for District influence in such matters.
Requires regular, predictable attendance.
May be assigned other duties by the Manager of Transmission and Distribution Planning.

Qualifications: Basic Minimum Requirements:
Possess an ABET Accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 8 years (or more) in system planning or operation; a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering may be used in lieu of 1 year experience.
Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Nebraska.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of electric power engineering.
Demonstrate expertise in power system analysis including computer applications.
Demonstrate familiarity with transmission and generation design and operation.
Demonstrate the ability to work with planning concepts.
Physical/Environmental:
Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility with minimal field work related to planning electric infrastructure placement. Must have the ability to work on multiple tasks at one time and move about the company either by walking or driving.
Must be able to travel long distances by car and airline travel-25%
