Perform long term analysis in support of Comprehensive Reliability
Plan (CRP), Congestion Assessment and Resource Integration Study (CARIS) and
other related long term grid reliability planning studies. The CRP
integrates market and regulated solutions such as bulk transmission system
expansion/enhancement options and market efficiencies to satisfy reliability
needs.
Specific responsibilities include:
a.. Perform econometric analysis and economic planning in response to FERC
Order 890 as well as a variety of other adequacy and reliability assessments
to support the planning function
a.. Assist in the development and presentation of Comprehensive
Reliability Plan (CRP), including reliability and economic assessments. This
involves evaluating the New York system to ensure future reliability,
adequacy, and security requirements are met
a.. Perform power system analysis required in the development of the CRP
a.. Prepare reports and presentations to support activities of the Long Term
Planning
a.. Perform coordinated expansion planning studies on a regional basis
a.. Perform analysis in support of planning related FERC filings
a.. Represent on industry committees, task forces, or stakeholder
groups involving issues related to planning
a.. Work with transmission owner staff in the development and refinement of
the CRP
a.. Develop and maintain the necessary system models and processes required
for the development of the CRP
a.. Prepare reports and presentations to support activities of the Long Term
Planning Department
a.. Perform analysis using a variety of software tools, specifically GE
MAPS/MWFLOW, ABB Gridview, PROMOD IV, power flow (PTI PSS/E), PTI MUST,
multi-area reliability simulation program (MARS) and business software (MS
Office)
Qualifications: Qualifications:
a.. 5+ years work experience in an electric transmission, generation,
utility, ISO or RTO environment
a.. Proficiency with LMP and economic simulations using security constrained
commitment and dispatch software such as Gridview, MAPS/MWFLOW or PROMOD IV
a.. Experience with PSS/E power flow and MUST applications (or similar
software)
a.. Understanding of LMP/FTR (TCC) market basics
a.. Experience with ISO/RTO market rules
a.. Experience with Benefit/Cost and present value calculations
a.. Familiarity with power system planning and operations, voltage analysis,
NERC, FERC, NPCC, and NYSRC requirements
a.. Experience with PSS/E power flow and MUST applications (or similar
software)
Education: BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Economics, preferably with
a focus in Power Systems. Advanced degree preferred.
