Description: Director EHS Charlotte, North Carolina Exercises responsibility and authority for managing and planning the environmental, health, safety, and fire prevention and protection functions. Manages and directs all of the EHS Department functions on projects or operating facilities. Plans EHS Department activities for operations on a short and long term basis taking into consideration company objectives, client requirements division/project needs, current and proposed safety and health regulations and Energy industry safety developments and practices. Reviews all safety and health regulations and procedures. Maintains knowledge of current enforcement policies and adjudication´s. Formulates corporate safety policies, programs and procedures to achieve compliance in the most cost-effective manner. Develops financial and operational objectives/plans to align with business objective within own area/function objectives within own area. Reviews expenditure patterns for conformance with departmental and policies. Develops and manages EHS Department personnel training and development programs to meet the department´s staffing requirements. Directs the preparation of reports and proposals for presentation to potential clients. May also take active role presenting proposals to prospective clients. Consults with legal Department Representatives on litigation arising from governmental environmental, safety and health compliance activities. Determines whether such litigation should be pursued or dropped. Develops strategies for appropriate defenses.
Qualifications: Degree relevant 12+ years EHS experience in an industrial setting required. Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CET, CSP, PE) preferred. Transmission, Distribution, and Substation experience. Proven record of managerial responsibilities of increasing scope and scale. Working knowledge of and experience in managing, planning and directing EHS Department functions. Proficiency in the interpretation and application of environmental, safety and health standards to Transmission and Distribution projects . Knowledge of legal policies and procedures with respect to environmental, safety and health issues.
