      Responsible for the supervision and planning of skilled workers in the
System Protection and Substation  Construction and Maintenance departments.
Directs and controls the safe construction, maintenance, and operation of
transmission and distribution substations and is responsible for all
division switching and tagging coordination. Oversees the installation,
testing, and maintenance of all division protective devices, control
circuits, and supervisory equipment for electric and/or gas operations. May
manage the operation and maintenance of the division service buildings and
facilities. Ensures that work is completed in accordance with internal and
industry standards following approved policies, procedures, safety rules,
budgets and in a manner that promotes customer satisfaction.

      MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      1. Plans, schedules, assigns, and directs work of personnel in the
substation operations (including relay) departments.. Responsibilities may
include building maintenance personnel. Plans and coordinates with related
departments and oversees all substation related construction, modification
and maintenance projects. Responsible for transmission and bulk power
delivery systems.

      2. Prepares and implements reliability focused Preventative
Maintenance program for responsible departments in support of corporate
reliability goals and Public Service Commission targets. Responsible for
customer satisfaction which may including substation reliability, system
power quality. Coordinate maintenance and construction projects with  other
construction departments.

      3. Provides technical support to other departments, such as
coordination for outage requests, oil spill cleanup, and problem
investigation.

      4. Coordinates safety training and inspections, including
documentation, and accident investigations. Trains personnel in theoretical
and practical application of protection devices, control systems, switching
and tagging, and other safety practices. Evaluates and documents employees
performance and progression and conducts or oversees the annual performance
appraisal process. Responsibilities include labor relations contract
administration and communications.

      5. Directs crews and provides solutions to emergency situations on an
as-needed 24-hour basis, including storm restoration and support. Takes
after-hours calls, including standing weekly duty on a rotating schedule
where required.

      6. Supervises contract personnel engaged in construction testing and
operations of a substation and division facilities and maintains the
documentation of equipment configuration and operating instructions for
future reference. Acts as division switching coordinator and power quality
responder.

      7. May assist with work in the field such as print-interpretation,
troubleshooting, problem investigation, equipment testing, set-up and
on-the-job training of apprentices.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications: Experience/Training:
        a.. 5-8 years of related experience
        b.. Knowledge of electrical or mechanical technology, control
circuits, system protection devices, electronics, physics, digital
electronics, electric power systems, meters, instruments, accounting, meter
principles, drafting, blueprint reading and/or switching & tagging
        c.. Knowledge of facility systems, electrical, HVAC, energy
management and control systems is a plus
      Required Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associates
degree in Electrical or Mechanical Technology with related experience is
preferred.
